  1. Hello Andrew,
There s a lot of useful info in this video but it was made 4 years ago.
Is the opportunity still there on amazon to make money or has it dlowed down?
    Kind regards
    Asma

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Asma,

Absolutely! In my opinion the opportunity on Amazon is bigger than ever.

Yes there is more competition now than a few years ago BUT there is also more demand (especially in the UK) and if you follow the right program the majority of Amazon sellers are irrelevant to you as they’re simply competing on price.

  2. Hello Andrew. I am considering to buy your course, However I am based in Slovakia (Member of EU). Do you recommend me to still buy your course? Will be the information you provides there also valid for seller from EU, not UK. THanks Martin

    1. Andrew Minalto

Martin, we have sellers taking our course from all over the world. The principles taught in the course apply globally and the info provided is certainly valid and very valuable! Feel free to reach out for any questions.

  3. Donald McElwee

    Hi Andrew,
I set up a professional seller plan last year to do Online Arbitrage and sell into the UK and Europe (unsuccessful).
I have now embarked on a Private Label course. They have suggested to start in the USA marketplace as it is the biggest
market, but you don’t have to. I still don’t feel I have the right information on whether to stick with my current plan and sell my product into UK/Europe (European languages may be a added complication) or add USA(English speaking) to my plan.

I believe I can add USA via Sell Globally in Seller Central. Initially I don’t want to incur two regions monthly subscription(Americas and UK/UE) fees and I don’t know just how easy/difficult it may be to add on USA to my current plan or whether I could ‘switch off UK’ and when I’m ready to expand my business ‘switch on UK’ again.

If I thought it was straight forward to add another region like USA and switch between them without incurring any penalties then I would go ahead and do it. But my feelings are that it may not be straight forward.
Can you give any advise please.
    Regards
    Donald

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Donald,

      Thanks for your comment.

Why don’t you ask these questions the person you bought your course from? 🙂

Jokes aside, first of all – where are you based? In the US or UK? As it makes a big difference in the answer I would give you.

      Let me know,
      Andrew

      1. Donald McElwee

        Hi Andrew,
I did ask on their Facebook page, but at the time I didn’t ask the right question, so I got an answer to the wrong question!!
So, I thought about it a bit more. I’m currently based in the UK.
        Thanks and Regards
        Donald

      2. Andrew Minalto

        Hi Donald,

If you’re based in the UK, that’s where you should start your business (Amazon.co.uk). The fact that the US is a much bigger market doesn’t mean much, especially when you’re just starting out AND when competition levels on the US site are EXTREMELY high! It will be much easier for you to find a product with small-ish competition on the UK site. Plus, from the tax perspective, it will also be much easier for you to start selling on Amazon UK.

Once you start making money on Amazon UK, you can think about the expansion to the EU marketplaces and maybe even the US. But don’t spend any time on that right now, it’s not important at this stage of your journey.

        Andrew

      3. Donald McElwee

Thanks Andrew for your advise, much appreciated.

        Regards
        Donald

  4. Michael Weston

    Hi
I am at that time where I am now wanting to retire. I am hoping to sell my Amazon business, without the loss of history/reviews.
I have recently changed my account to a business account will be shortly become a limited company as I have been told I will be able to pass on the amazon account easier if Limited, but I have looked into settings and it seems impossible to get any information from this. The legal entity change request says I am not eligible. Can you help please.
    Regards

    Michael

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Michael,

      Thanks for your comment.

There’s no way to “transfer” Amazon business in an automated way. You will have to contact seller support and inform that you want to sell your business and transfer to a different Ltd. company. They will then give you instructions on what you need to do next.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  5. Great video Andrew. You say that you look for listings in the product research phase that are mostly FBM’s because you have a better chance of converting with FBA. As both the FBM & FBA offer Prime, can you explain your thinking behind this please?

Secondly, what’s your view on doing product research showing only FBA listings to help narrow down the search results. This way, if it’s showing only a couple of FBA’s doing decent sales and low number of reviews, that would be a good starting point of a possible product?

    Many thanks, Hefin

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Hefin,

      Thanks for your comment.

I’m FBM does not mean Prime by default. It’s something you can provide as a seller, but it comes with additional strict rules and restrictions. So not all FBM are Prime listings.

I personally don’t base ANY decisions on FBA vs FBM during the market research phase – it’s just a small additional indicator, not something you decide whatever a product is good or not. When doing research using Jungle Scout, don’t filter out any results like that – you want to see the FULL picture, real first-page search results.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

      1. Many thanks Andrew.

  6. Hi Andrew
Thanks for the video, would like to ask you what email invoice automation software do you recoomend ?
    Thanks
    Rafa

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Rafa,

As I’m VAt registered, I use Amazon’s VAT service which is free, automated and creates invoices on my behalf.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  7. Ricardo Hoyte

    Hi Andrew
I am just starting Amazon FBA UK and like to know would recommend Helium 10 or Jungle Scout
    Thanks Ricardo

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Ricardo,

I personally use and recommend Jungle Scout. Helium 10 is also a good product and offers different features, so depending on what you need, you may need to go with that. But for me, for product research, keyword research, competitor analysis and post-purchase emails, Jungle Scout works best.

      Andrew

  8. Hi, can I ask the big question – is FBA now becoming over-saturated – is it really possible to operate profitably in a market the size of the UK?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Yes, of course, it’s possible.

Amazon UK market size is not that small. Plus, if you add 4 EU marketplaces, with the right product range, the sky is the limit.

What’s great about Amazon FBA business is that you don’t have to stick with one niche or one product. You can launch multiple brands under one account and expand your business to the level you want.

      Andrew

  9. I like this videos but Andrew are available on hand for any questions after finishing the course ? as it really sounds interesting.

    Thanks

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Biz,

      Thanks for your comment.

Yes, of course! You get my personal support with the purchase of the course. There’s no time limit for it, for as long as I’m doing this – I will be happy to answer your questions.

Hope this helps & let me know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  10. Hi,

I like the video but it would be better if you spoke yourself than a robot.

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Thanks Alex.

  11. Sisira Weerasinghe

Hi Andrew I have sent couple of mails no answer. My Amazon. de has been deactivated because I have not registered vat.?
My revenue is much less than 100000 so I dont need to register VAT. Please help me.
    Thanks. VAXY

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Sisira,

Thanks for your comment (I’m sorry but I haven’t received any emails from you in my help desk).

The German market is different – they basically now ask all sellers to register for a tax number there, no matter your sales volume.

So I don’t think you will be able to continue selling there unless you register.

      Andrew

  12. Hi Andrew,
I just seen your video…is very interesting. Thank you for all your information and knowledge. I long time think about my own business or sale in Amazon. My story is that 1 year ago I both exactly same program how yours Amazon shark course is about teaching people from A-Z how to sell on Amazon step by step, with lot of really good tips and tricks how to be successful. Cost me 400 euros. I did not say is bad..was very informative. I search product, I found product, I found supplier, I both product…I create logo…but when I received my product my worry’s just start. I paid so much money for tax and shipment from China to Ireland just for 10 first product to try sell. I was terrified and I didn’t go any further. I would have to add a huge rebate to get some sales profit. Ireland and UK shipment and tax are similar how you deal with it?
    Thanks for answer
    I.

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Ingrid,

      Thanks for your comment.

Well, first of all – you avoid such situations by calculating all the costs, including shipping and taxes, BEFORE you place your order in China. This way you know exactly how much each unit will cost you, landed. I teach how to do this in the course.

Secondly, 10 units are not enough. To make money on Amazon, you have to buy in bigger quantities, so that the product price AND shipping cost per unit is as low as possible. The more units you buy and ship at the same time, the lower the shipping cost per item will be.

Hope this helps Ingrid and let me know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  13. Hi Andrew

I just read your “ How I LOST 7 months and $805 registering a Trademark for Amazons Brand Registery May 2018

You mention how to get UK registery to work in US but you didn’t really say how it can be made to work for Europe…… can you please shed some light on this. It would be much appreciated

    Regards
    Michael

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Michael,

      Thanks for your comment.

It works in the exact same way in Europe too – you can use a UK trademark to get into Amazon’s Brand Registry in France, Germany, Italy & Spain.

There’s not much to it 🙂

      Andrew

  14. Robert Gall

Hi can I buy and sell Returns stock as the same brand name if they are repaired or just damaged box can I sell them on line?

    1. Hello Robert,
I am looking for something similar but in Canada.

Where should I start looking or approach it?

      Thanks in advance.

    2. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Robert,

Yes, you can sell those products, but most likely as “USED” condition, not brand new.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  15. Hey how are you Andrew, thank you for your honesty.
I live in Australia and have a wide range of good quality, Nepalese, Mens, Children’s and Womens clothes and winter accessories like scarves, slippers, hats and gloves, being imported.
Do you think it best to start on eBay like your blog was saying and also, as Amazon Australia is fairly new or no.

I’m very new to this and have invested my savings importing a couple of hundred kg of quality clothes from Nepal. With the aim of selling online and within my community.

Can you advise me about the Australia market or recommend someone you know that you trust or is online shops just a worldwide market.

Thank you for your time, I’ve always had a lill untrust towards the ads bragging about the millions to be made online, I felt a trust for you straight away.
    Much Love and Blessings
    Namastē
    Will

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Will,

      Thanks for your comment.

You can def. start on eBay or both eBay and Amazon. You need to check whatever there’s demand/sales on Amazon for the items you plan on selling and then decide.

But eBay is a great starting platform for you anyways, as eBay is so much more popular in Australia than Amazon.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  16. Hello Andrew, Ben here I am a single dad with no business skills, I have just watched your Amazon video above and there are 2 things that are making me nervous, please could you give me a little more info on Labeling and Branding, I mean do I just call up a Chinese manufacturer and ask can I put my brand name on there product, that brings me to my second question I feel a bit out of my depth when it comes to Manufactures, as I said I ain’t done nothing like this before so i don’t even know the first steps to finding one, so any information on finding the right Manufacturers would be great, oh one more thing once I find a product not sure how much to order to get me started, as video shows if I don’t meet supply and demand my ratings can go down and is near impossible to get ratings back up. Lastly before I go I need to say thanks for inspiring me and others with your clear step by step guidance, I wish you all the success in the world.

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Ben,

      Thanks for your comment.

      1) Branding – yes, you basically ask supplier/manufacturer to do that for you. But it’s usually not just simple labelling – usually, you want to print the logo directly on the product as well as create a custom packaging. Again, suppliers will assist with this.

      2) You need to start learning how everything works Ben. Start with my free articles here:

      https://andrewminalto.com/start-amazon-business/

Don’t do anything before you feel totally confident you have to knowledge/skills to do this. Otherwise, you can get scammed very quickly.

If you prefer more personal coaching, consider joining my Amazon Sharks program here:

      https://www.amazonsharks.com

It’s a 20-hour video course that will teach you everything you need to know about starting a successful FBA business. Plus you will get my personal support as part of it.

Hope this helps Ben & let me know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  17. Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the video, it was very informative and I definitely picked up a few things. I wanted to ask, we are already selling on Amazon, and to protect our products, we are in the process of registering a trademark. Once the trademark is issued, we would like to list using the Brand Registry and the enhanced Brand content, would it be a case of creating completely new listings or could I ‘switch up’ our existing listings. Apologies if I’ve missed it but couldn’t find that information.

    1. Andrew Minalto

No, no need to create new listings!

You will apply the EBC to your existing listing, don’t worry about that.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  18. Caroline Barnes

    Hi Andrew

thank you for your great video – very informative – and I’m definitely considering your programme. One question, ( i appreciate that like everyone else in the country you might not have a clue! ) Has Amazon given any indication of any changes re Brexit- I’m assuming that maybe selling in Europe might not be as simple as it is now – also wondering about importing from China – what might happen there ?
    thanks v much
    Caroline

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Caroline,

      Thanks for stopping by.

As for importing from China and Brexit – it shouldn’t change much as China is not part of EU (obviously) and all shipments from China go through Customs anyway. So I can’t see any major changes there (apart from delays of course which we can’t predict).

As for selling in Europe – things will change if Brexit happens, yes. Amazon will have to stop their Pan-European program as they won’t be able to distribute goods freely across EU anymore. But that doesn’t mean we won’t be able to sell in Europe anymore. We will simply have to send the stock to EU warehouses on our own. Also, I’m confident that Amazon, over time, will create some sort of new system to help sellers with this – with shipping goods to EU countries.

      Hope this helps Caroline! 🙂

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  19. Zhadyra Yershat

    Hello,
I wanted to know that if my country of residence is not on the amazon UK support list but I have a UK bank account that I have not used for years but still valid and can I still register as a seller. I tried to register but even though my citizenship is accepted to register as a seller but my country of residence is not. So it means you can become a seller if you were resided in approved list no matter which citizenship you have. In this situation, I would like to ask you if I register a company in the UK, even if I’m not resided in UK, will I still be able to sell?

    1. Andrew Minalto

You need to contact Amazon support and ask them about this – you have to be 100% clear about your situation, there’s no point in providing false information as otherwise, you won’t be able to verify your account later on.

      Andrew

  20. Franky james

Hello I’m hopping to start a business but I don’t know how to start..need help please..thanks

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Franky,

      Thanks for stopping by.

If you’re new to all this, you should start by educating yourself on how eCommerce works. To do that, you won’t find a better place than my blog’s archive page:

      https://andrewminalto.com/start-amazon-business/

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  21. Hi Andrew,
Great content in the video, really enjoyed it and picked up some useful info. Just wondering with the Jungle Scout Web App subscriptions, I’m looking at the lite package as I wouldn’t need so many products tracking at once to start, but it doesn’t include the niche hunter. Is the niche hunter an essential tool in your opinion or what package would you recommend for a startup seller?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Bill,

      Thanks for your comment.

I would recommend going with the middle plan when you’re starting – at least for the first month.

You can always change your plan later on but in the beginning, you want to explore all available tools and make most out of them.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  22. Im looking at making a bit of extra income from buying and selling from a site that sells graded returns and clearance stock (gem wholesale) and would just like a bit of advice. Im not looking at making a fortune but just a big of extra money to top up my full time job. What advice could you give me

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Shaun,

eBay will be a better place to sell such returns/liquidated stuff. Amazon is more suitable for brand new products using the private label model.

You can, of course, try it on Amazon and maybe you succeed, I don’t know as I have never been involved in that business model.

      Andrew

  23. Hi Andrew.

I have watched your whole video and I really appreciate the time and effort it has taken to put together.

My question comes down to the inevitable ‘bottom line’… do you think you need to have money to make money in this business?

I am trying to figure out, from what you have said in this video, what you think the minimum initial costs would be needed to start up? Looking at Jungle Scout costs, Terapeak costs, cost of initial stock, advertising costs (which you indicated at the beginning is the reason for your initial high sales).. I am guessing to start making thousands, you need thousands to begin with? (especially for a brand new beginner, who would also benefit from your Amazon Sharks course, which is £990 as well).

High initial outlay costs are probably out of my scope at the moment, but if i could find them they also make me quite nervous should the venture not succeed! So I wondered what you felt a realistic ‘bottom line’ set up cost would be for a complete beginner?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Sarah,

Thanks for stopping by & it’s great to hear you enjoyed my video! 🙂

Yes, of course – you do need to invest money to make money in the retail World – that’s how it works. The more money you can invest AND be smart about it, the quicker results you will see. It’s super easy for someone with a £100k budget to pick 10 to 20 products, get them to market and basically from month one generate a decent return.

With that being said, most people don’t have £100k just sitting there in the bank account, not even £10k. I have worked with THOUSANDS (seriously) people over the last 15 years and I can reveal that the typical amount of money most people have saved up is £1k to £3k. And they just go with that! Yes, it limits your choice of products, yes, it will take much longer for you to reach decent sales or replace your salary BUT it can still be done with a limited budget. It just takes more time.

As for the costs you have listed there – you don’t necessary need Amazon Sharks program, if you have plenty of time, you can learn this game on your own! There are so many blogs, forums, YouTube videos teaching Amazon business!!! Yes, it will probably take you 3 to 6 months and say 1000 hours of research but you can get there for free. You also don’t need Terapeak, Jungle Scout is perfectly fine and enough.

The absolute minimum I recommend is £1k – from that approx. £500 will go to stock purchase and £500 for tools, listing creation, branding, initial PPC costs, images etc. With a smaller budget, you will really struggle to get anywhere. If you have £2k or more, that will open up more choices in the product selection process.

Hope this helps Sarah & let me know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  24. Ron Dadula

    Hello Andrew,
Two years ago when I thought about selling on amazon for extra income. however it keeps me back off because I’m afraid of loosing money, not getting sales/profit and scammers. I have watched some of your videos they are good and helpful to understand a bit of the business side. I’m starting to get interested about the amazon sharks course. (hope to find a way to afford it).
    Question for you.
    1. what makes the difference between amazon sharks course to others who also offering fba courses?
    2. Scammers are everywhere how to look for a genuine china manufacture/suppliers..Is this issue will be discuss in your course?
    3. I’m a newbie just wanna try a small budget but hopefully to make a progress, how I could have a chance to make sales/profit in a very competitive amazon markets?

    Many thanks,
    Ron

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Ron,

Thanks for your comment. I will answer your questions one by one:

      1) There are many courses out there so I can’t really comment on all of them. What I can say is that Amazon Sharks is THE most comprehensive Amazon FBA course I have seen offering BEST support and longtime value. Many courses are filled with “empty talk” while my course is 20 hours of step by step video lessons covering from A to Z the Amazon FBA business model. This included DETAILED videos on product research, importing, branding, listing creation, PPC and many other topics. PLUS I do offer my PERSONAL support, not just a Facebook group like many other courses do. Lastly, you get all future updates for free, for life.

      2) Yes, of course. I have almost 15 years of experience with importing from China – I have personally worked with hundreds of people, hundreds of suppliers and know exactly how to find the best and most reliable suppliers in China. All of that is covered in detail in the course.

      3) You can start with a small budget Ron, you just have to be prepared to be patient and don’t expect profits quickly. I do cover various strategies in the course that are suitable for people with small budgets, including some that are original and genuine to my course – stuff I cover in the Manufacturing Paradise module. So there are always options out there!

Hope this helps Ron & let me know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

      1. Sold! I like the idea of lifetime updates. You do that side of the work, tell me (us) so I’m in the loop and can drown out all the noise (information overload).

      2. Andrew Minalto

Thanks, Kris, I work hard for my clients! 🙂

I have many customers who are with me now for more than 10 years, I guess, that speaks alone how dedicated I am to this process.

        Andrew

  25. Hi Andrew. Thank you in advance for all the help. I am new in Alibaba.com. I am confused about Trade Assurance. I found a supplier that quoted me a machine with door to door shipping terms. I have asked for a pro-forma Invoice. However, the supplier failed to provide the shipping agreed terms (DDP) and instead on the bottom of the pro-forma invoice stated shipping terms (EXW) and also failed to summit a detailed description of the machine as I requested. I asked the supplier to modify the PI within the Trade Assurance parameters. Furthermore, the supplier modified the PI but failed again to summit a detailed description of the machine. It only provided a machine picture plus basic information (machine name and model #) In the other hand…although the supplier only modified the shipping terms by written the words “shipping: door to door” doesn’t describe the usual shipping acronyms term (DDP). Also, at the bottom of the PI still shows the (EXW) shipping terms. I am very confused about this since this could be interpreted to benefit the supplier. My other question is…Does Trade Assurance only option to pay is T/T or do they have more secure options like PayPal. Should I continue or cancel this order and look for another supplier? Thank you for your advise and time.

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Mar,

      Thanks for your comment.

It all sounds dodgy to me…. it’s obvious that the supplier doesn’t want to do this properly and I personally would not continue an order with a supplier acting like this. It seems that they do everything they can to “save themselves” in case something goes wrong. I would just look for other suppliers.

No, you can’t do PayPal on trade assurance orders.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  26. Hi Andrew,
I managed to make it to the end of your excellent video, packed full of handy tips. However, you burst my bubble when advising against selling branded products. I appreciate the reason, but I am coming from a slightly different perspective. The products I am interested in are branded and a popular brand at that. However, I am an unemployed programmer and there is a programming element to these products with an opportunity for development in the future. At the very least, to be a technical expert and not only a sales person. This in part where I believe I can add value. However, in the meantime, I need income so that’s what I would concentrate on. I am lucky that my personal overheads are low. So, the question, would it really be that bad to sell branded products under these circumstances?
    Thank you.

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Peter,

      Thanks for stopping by!

IF you can add VALUE, it could still work. I don’t know the product but if you create some sort of unique bundle/kit/set of branded products AND add your own skills, this could work yes. For example, you can buy iPads but have them totally re-programmed to do a specific task or whatever – it could work, yes.

As long as what you do can’t be easily replicated or copied by others.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  27. Hi Andrew,
i would like to start my own Amazon FBA business but i am concerned that there may be some restrictions that Amazon may impose on me that could potentially distrupt my businesss on Amazon. Can i still start my own Amazon FBA business if i am 17?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Mase,

No, you can’t – you have to be 18 years old to open an Amazon sellers account.

      Andrew

  28. Hello,
Regarding FBA shipments in Amazon i would like to ask you any clue why the oversized if your warehouse is located in Mi , Amazon send the stock to CA or VA or WA please?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Christina,

I think they have some warehouses that are specialised in over-sized items and that’s why they do this.

      Andrew

      Of course, it’s a scam!!!

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is. Especially on Alibaba.

Hi, I have just opened an eBay shop, after many years as a buy as you sell. I am now selling much less and paying more fees. I am not sure whether to battle on with the shop, or go back to p.a.y.s. Not sure why the shop is not performing, I have promoted items on there, but it doesn’t appear to make a difference.

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Linda,

The shop status should not make any difference really as listings are still same listings.

But I don’t sell on eBay anymore so don’t know what’s the latest there.

      Andrew

  31. Hi Andrew – This is my first post here. I can see your site has a lot of info, so I’m going to have read it detail, but I do have two questions about ebay that I hope you can answer.I have toapologize in advance for the lengthy explanations – My first one has to do with ebay fees. I’ll use a real time example.

I was cleaning out my stuff and came across several old VHS tapes. I created an ebay listing where I priced each one at $2 canadian plus shipping. When I posted these, I didn’t know how much Canada post was going to charge for shipping. I later found out that Can Post would charge ~$18 Can !!!! to send these across the country. So my question is, would I even make any money selling these ? I estimate that my fees, and bank fees would be about 25% (this includes conversion fees to USD, paypal, visa, etc etc. So now I’m thinking if I sold one for $2 + $18 shipping, I would be paying fees on $20 (approx $5) ? But I’ve only got these listed for $2. Is my thinking correct here ?

My second question is this – I recently had two items pulled from ebay because of copyright infringement issues (these were pulled first and not really explained to me). They were small metal models that had pieces that were lasered from razor blade thickness metal foil. I emailed the person that filed the complaint, and he told me that he had copyrighted two brands to sell similar models under. He gave me an example of why my listings were removed, but his example was poor. He quoted a literary work and said that if he had copyrighted Harry Potter, I would have to remove any Harry Potter type listings. I looked up the US Copyright office and read their mat’l. The person that complained was right about Harry Potter, but I got the impression that he was using his complaints and his copyrighted brand names to protect his own listings and eliminate competition.
So my question here is this – If I am selling/listing a product similar to his, but I am not using either of his copyrighted product brand names, can I still list them ? The US copyright office states that if its a literary work, and he’s the author, he/his work is protected under copyright, but he is trying to stop anyone from making a similar product. It looks to me that he actually needs a design patent. I see many items listed on ebay where a person has listed an item as a branded item, and then right beside them is an identical item (unbranded). Is this person correct in shutting down all competition, or is he stretching it to falsely eliminate similar products ?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Terry,

      Thanks for stopping by.

I don’t sell on eBay anymore BUT as for your calculations – you just need to set the item’s price higher if you want to make any profit. Don’t list it at $2! It’s also hard to believe that shipping a VHS tape within the country will cost you $18? There should be a cheaper method….

As for trademark issues on eBay – basically, if they have registered under the VERO program, they can do whatever they want – eBay will take down those listings if they report them. And I don’t think eBay spends much time by looking into each specific case here – they just act safe and take down any listing a VERO seller reports. At least that’s my impression.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  32. Hi Andrew, really enjoyed watching your video. Apologies if this is a dumb question but where do we actually start in terms of sourcing a product? Guessing google is an obvious start point but then is it simply a case of contacting XYZ Manufacturing and asking questions etc? Am I being thick and missing something but it seems too easy if that’s the case? As you can guess I’ve never done anything like this or had anything to do with retail before!!!! Second question – how much is your Amazon Sharks course? Thanks in advance

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Rob,

      Thanks for your question.

If you don’t have any experience with this, I highly recommend you join Amazon Sharks! 🙂 It costs £990 OR 10 x weekly payments of £99 each and will guide you through the whole process, from A to Z!

But in general, if you’re looking for a supplier in China, you will be using Alibaba.com as your main search tool.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  33. Hi I currently have a Ebay shop and I’m now looking to start using Amazing fba could you give me some advice on the best way to get started please
    Kind regards
    Caroline

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Caroline,

      Thanks for your comment.

Best advice I can give you is to get my Amazon Sharks course:

      https://www.amazonsharks.com/vsl

This is most advanced, detailed Amazon training program you will ever find + it comes with my personal support too!

Check it out in more detail and let me know if you have any questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  34. Brian McManus

    Hi Andrew,
Super presentation, polished and professional with loads of salient detail, thank you for that. Can I just ask a few quick questions. However, if they are answered in the Amazon Sharks material I can pick up the answers from there:
    – When you talk about advertising and you refer to “ppc” can you oblige and explain what that is please?
    – As a percentage of available funds how much capital should be set aside for initial advertising?
    – When doing product research have you any specific advice around targeting the Christmas market?
    – You talk about potentially creating separate accounts for separate brands but later say that Amazon supports multiple brands under one account. Wasn’t quite sure what the message was there?
    – This is probably self-evident but I assume that to use the Chrome extension tool I would need to download and install the Chrome browser?
    – Are the Amazon Shark videos available for download and keeping or are they only available streamed?
I’ve been trading on eBay intermittently for 17 years but it’s been very synchronistic that I came across your advertorial as there is no question that growth on that platform is running into a brick wall and that the ethos of what eBay once was is very much a thing of the dim and distant.

    Thanks again for the insights,
    Brian

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Brian,

      Thanks for your comment.

Yes, all of these questions are indeed answered in great detail in Amazon Sharks program 🙂

So, if you plan on signing up, go for it and just start watching the videos.(yes, you can both stream and download videos PLUS
I even have printable PDFs available).

Let me know if you have any more questions Brian.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  35. Garry Taylor

Good day Andrew , as I am sure we all appreciate its a minefield out there and to be successful requires , determination , passion and a great deal of effort . These attributes are a given . However, as a start up quite knowing where to start is crucial to ensure time spent is well spent . Your web page and introductory video is extremely informative . Thank you . Indeed your web page and posts offer much for the journey . However , the sheer volume of information available is rather intimidating and knowing where to start and the path to take quite daunting .
Where should I start ? Do I enroll with Amazon Shark and for the moment ignore your blogs and previous posts and focus on the Shark program prior to delving into any additional information?
    Sincerely appreciate your guidance .
    Kind reagds
    Garry

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Garry,

      Thanks for stopping by!

If you can afford it, I would of course highly recommend that you join Amazon Sharks program as with it you will have a systematic, step by step approach on how to build your Amazon business.

I have of course covered many topics on this blog too BUT Amazon Sharks is all brand new content, created in 2018 and it’s in video format – more than 20 hours of videos, where I show you exactly what you need to do, show my own, real life business examples etc. etc., so obviously it’s a much better way to learn all of this. Plus you get access to my personal support, recommendations on product photographer, designer and other insights.

Hope this helps Garry & let me know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  36. Am from the UK aswell if that helps more info the better right? Thank you

  37. Hello, this video is very helpful, there is one thing I want to know, how do you get your products that you buy from Terapeak or Alibaba, to your amazon in your shop selling? I don’t get how it works, hope you have a great day and have learnt a lot more from this video thank you

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Adam,

      Thanks for your comment.

You mean – how to physically get products to Amazon? You simply send them to Amazon warehouse using a normal courier service or shipping company – in a box or a full pallet or more.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  38. Samantha Robinson

This may be a silly question but what is the difference between a branded product and a private label. I am new to this and I’m in the early stages of research. Thanks Sam

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Sam,

Essentially it is the same thing – via private labelling you create your own branded product.

But in my content, I usually use private label for a situation when we create our own brand, import products from China etc. but use “branded product” in cases where OTHER, well known brands are selling that product (like Nike, Apple, Sony etc.).

      Hope this helps! 😉

      Andrew

  39. Hi how much will your course be and will you give any one to one? Am a beginner and would like to learn from someone
who is doing and understand the market place. And is in Britain as well

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Hodan,

Full details on the course, pricing, availability etc. you will find on this website/video:

      https://www.amazonsharks.com

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  40. Hello Andrew, I hope all is well with you and your beautiful family. I was admiring your pic I know when I had my first little boy I thought I knew about unconditional love. Boy was I wrong. There wonderful aren’t they. I’m sorry for rambling on. My question to you is, I live in Canada, British Columbia and I was very curious about if FBA will work the same way, I mean if I follow your directions do you think I could be successful at it? Thank you for your time and I hope to hear back from you soon. Carlajoy.🤔

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Thank you Joy! 🙂

Yes, why not?! Your location when doing an Amazon FBA business DOESN’T really matter! Your customers don’t really care where you’re located! When you use FBA, all they know and care about is that they will get their free Prime delivery and Amazon support system, that’s it.

So don’t worry about that, just go for it! 🙂

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  41. Hi Andrew…
If I pay using paypal and later find that its a scam, how could they be traced?
And will paypal reverse funds back to me?
    If so how fast/ soon?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Mo,

      In what specific scenario?

Scammers in general don’t accept PayPal as you will be able to get your money back, yes.

      Andrew

  42. Hi Andrew, may I have another question please. When it comes to searching for a good product and evaluating sales and price of a potential product, is there any minimum limit to filter by, considering the UK market specifics (e.g it would not be worth it to sell a product which does not generate minimum 300 sales per month/200 sales pm; not worthy to sell a product for cheaper than £15…). US sellers and Jungle Scout videos advise new sellers not to go below 400 sales, 20 usd and over 50 reviews when researching new products but when I set these criteria on amazon uk only few products come up. It seems the volume of sales is much lower in the UK and price lower than set in the us for similar products. Thanks again for all your valuable information. Zuzana

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Zuzana,

Do you have my Amazon Sharks course? In it I go in detail on how to approach UK market, what numbers to look for etc.

It’s hard to give detailed answer on this via a blog comment but yes – sales numbers on the UK site are much lower compared to the USA so we need to lower those filters used, compared to the US.

Also – it depends on your budget/buying power – smaller budgets will need to look into cheaper, smaller items with not that big competition and sales while with bigger budgets you can look into more expensive and aggressive markets.

So it all depends on various factors and your personal situation.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  43. hi Andrew, I cannot find a response to a very important aspect of a product launch process on Amazon. In order to boost sales and to get to page 1 of the search result, one needs to get quick sales of the product. Amazon US sellers create giveaway campaigns and offer heavily discounted products on various 3rd party websites which result in high initial sales. this does not seem to be possible in the uk. is that correct? what can be done on Amazon uk to boost sales of a newly launched product you’d recommend? many thanks, Zuzana

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Zuzana,

It is possible to do same thing in the UK – using Jump Send, Viral Launch and other services which have UK option.

But this tactic doesn’t work anymore – it’s almost useless. It is only good for getting initial reviews in.

To get real boost in rankings, you want to sell your products at real price using PPC or traffic outside the Amazon marketplace.

      Andrew

  44. Hi Andrew
I just bought the course and it says my paypal email should tell me how to set up an account.
There is no info on my paypal email apart from a web address and email.
    Thanks

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Nici,

Many Thanks for joining Amazon Sharks!

Please get in touch with me directly via my help desk so I can look into this and sort out the problem ASAP:

      https://help.andrewminalto.com

Thanks again & I hope to hear from you soon 🙂

      Andrew

  45. Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the swift response. You mentioned that I can pay all intallments at once. If I do so will I get discount. Can I pay with my AMEX card. How?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Ali,

No, there are no discounts available – everyone pays same price for Amazon Sharks program.

Yes, you can use your AMEX card via PayPal to sign up for the course! 🙂

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  46. Hello Andrew,

How your course Amazon Sharks works. I.e is it all videos? If why people have to reserve a seat?

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Ali,

      Thanks for your comment.

Yes, it’s an online based video course – all videos.

I do limit number of people I take in as I have to provide support to all Sharks – and I do it on my own, I don’t outsource it.

Hence I can’t take un-limited number of people in – that would mean I’m answering support requests all day long 🙂

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  47. Andrew Soper

    Hi Andrew,
Is it viable to import televisions and other electrical goods from China to the UK ?

A friend of mine has his own branded electrical goods that he sells through his chain of stores in the Middle-East and wants me to help him import into the UK.Most of what I’ve read about Amazon FBA
emphasises the importance of the size and weight of the product as being key.

    Kind regards,
    Barry

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Andrew,

In my opinion it’s not viable, no – at least not large electrical goods which are brand dominated in the UK, like televisions.

Small electronic devices/gadgets/tools are fine though as they’re much easier to deal with and in most cases these products are not brand dominated which means you can do well with your own brand.

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  48. Hi Andrew.
Thanks for your very informative video. You mentioned requesting feedback on amazon and I would like to know your ideas for how and what to put in the request message?
Secondly, do you have to send messages to each customer manually, or is there a way to automate the message?
    Lola

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Lola,

There are specific ways I do set-up this messaging so that customers are not annoyed and they actually LIKE receiving these messages and they do go out and leave seller feedback and product review for you. In short, you need to send them a valuable free gift/bonus, customise messages with your branding/logo, make it really personal and then the success rate is pretty high. More details on how it all works you can find it my AS course:

      https://www.amazonsharks.com

      Thanks,
      Andrew

  49. Hey Andrew,

Just one quick question for you… you called this the “Best opportunity of this decade…” “I’m talking about the Amazon UK Market” …. Would you say the same thing about the Amazon US market, or am I missing the boat?

    Randy

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Randy,

I’m sure there’s still lots of opportunities on the Amazon.com too, but it is more competitive than the UK market or EU markets.

It is much bigger too which is a big plus of course as you can go after more long tail keywords/products and still get very good volume of sales.

All in all – with the right attitude/work ethic, you can still get on and make it a huge success on Amazon.com! The easy days maybe over there but it does not mean that money is not there.

      Andrew

  50. Hello Andrew I am a seller on ebay who is sick of competing with others who claim to sell authenic, 100% pure essential oils and it is either junk or not real! So then my business of the real deal, quality is then untrusted or overpriced! How can I get interest and trust from others besides me supplying paperwork from my oils that are tested.
I also have competition from the brand names who are legally not suppose to sell on ebay either! Any information would be greatful!

    1. Andrew Minalto

      Hi Erika,

If you sell higher end, premium product version compared to cheap imitations on eBay, it will be very difficult for you to attract high sales volume as eBay’s search algorithm is heavily price driven, as I explain in the video. You can create the World’s most amazing listing but you won’t get high up in search because your price compared to similar items is simply too high. You can and should try Promoted Listings feature but it does not really guarantee you that much, apart from “vague” increased visibility.

A product like yours should do really well on Amazon, where people are paying higher prices for high quality products. Especially if you say that your stuff is so much better than competitors – it will show up in reviews!

      Thanks,
      Andrew
