Very often I am asked this question by people – “what are the best, hot selling products on eBay?”
As if it is some kind of big secret…
Well, for many people this may be a surprise but you don’t have to be David Copperfield to see the top selling products on eBay, far from it! You don’t even have to do any kind of manual research to find these hot selling products on eBay – it’s actually far, far easier.
All you need is a Terapeak subscription and that’s it! With that you can find the most popular products on eBay.
I have already covered how to use Terapeak’s Competitor Research tool to find the most popular products in your niche, sold by competing sellers, but today I want to cover the Hot Research function, which you’ll find within the in-depth research tab:
- You can do a manual search for a keyword and it will show all items related to that keyword. You can also select the data range from 1, 7 and 14 days.
- Hot Categories (click on the first icon in the Views menu).
- Hot Media (second icon in the Views menu). At this time hot media does not work for eBay.co.uk but it does work for eBay.com.
- Popular Keyword searches (third icon in t
he Views menu).
- Best selling products, based on keywords used in the listing title.
- Best selling titles, based on actual listings and their sales data.
- Total sales
- Total listings
- Sell-through rate
- Average price
- Items sold (Bids)
These numbers are based on sales data from the previous 7 days so if you want a monthly estimate, you need to multiple the results by 4.3 (to get 30 days’ data).
The best part is that you can sort the results by any of these 5 numbers! By default it shows results based on Total sales but you can sort them by say, number of sales (bids column), sell through rate, average price or number of listings. Simply click on the filter on the top row to change the sorting order:
As you can see, the current top selling product/listing on eBay.co.uk is a garden furniture set with more than £300k in sales in the last 30 days!!!
REMEMBER!!! These are listing based results which show which listings sell the most products on eBay. So it won’t combine similar products sold via other listings, meaning that actual total sales for any product covered here is much, much higher!
You can get a better feeling for the total sales number for any product by using the Best Selling Products tab, which shows results based on keywords used in the listing title:
As you can see, the first result is case/cover with more than 300k sales over the last 7 days with an average price of £3.42. This means more than a million sales of “case covers” worth around 5 million pounds each month! No wonder so many people want to sell phone covers on eBay!!
Another great feature you can use here is to filter down results based on the product category. All you have to do is select category from the category selection menu to filter the results this way:
To get more information and sales data for each product, you simply hover over the product listing in the results and Terapeak gives further research options.
Lastly, don’t forget that you can select any regional eBay site you want and find the best selling products from various marketplaces. I usually follow trends on eBay.com as very often hot products over there arrive in the UK soon after, meaning you can take advantage of being one of the first sellers in the UK for that product:
That’s all there is to it really – no secrets or special skills needed! Sign up for a Terapeak account (7 Day FREE Trail Available!) and see for yourself how easy it is to find the top selling products on eBay!
